Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani is counted amongst the country's most prestigious private higher education institutes. This university of international standing traces its origin to 1901 when a small school 'Pathshala' was built in Pilani.

BITS was established as an institute in 1964 with late Dr G.D. Birla as its founding chairman. Dr G.D. Birla was an eminent industrialist and a strong participant of the Indian freedom struggle. The main and the most reputed BITS campus is in Pilani, however, the institution has other world-class campuses in Hyderabad, Goa and Dubai.

BITS Pilani Admission Process

BITS holds the BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) for those who wish to study in the prestigious institution. Admission is offered based on the candidate's performance in the BITSAT. In case of international students, the institute accepts the SAT results and SAT Subject Test results in chemistry, mathematics and physics. The applications for taking the BITSAT are submitted in December and the test is conducted online in May and June in various cities across the country.

The exam is based on higher secondary curricula in the country and abroad. According to a news report published in 2012, BITSAT has overtaken IIT-JEE in terms of competition. The ratio of the number of applicants to the number of available seats is growing rapidly. Besides clearing BITSAT, the eligibility for admission also depends on the marks secured in the higher secondary examination. The students must receive at least 75% marks in chemistry, physics and mathematics to be considered eligible.

 

 

BITS Pilani Entrance Exam (BITSAT)

Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is an online computer-based admission test conducted by BITS, Pilani. The test is majorly conducted for admission to integrated first-degree programs offered at all the campuses of the university. BITSAT Application forms are available from the month of January, every year, while the entrance exam is conducted in the month of May.

The application form for BITSAT is made available on the university’s official website. BITSAT Application forms are available from the month of January, every year, while the application process ends around the month of June. Candidates need to fill the form online, once a form has been filled, candidates will need to take a printout of the application form. A candidate can make changes in the application form at any time before submitting the form. One should only take a printout of the application form, once he/she has made sure that the form has been filled incorrectly.

Candidate can choose to pay online through any of the given online payment methods or may even choose to pay offline through Cash Challan. Once the candidates have taken the printout of the application form and completed the payment, they will send the form to The Dean Admissions, BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan.

 

BITS Pilani Placement Trends

BITS Pilani is a favoured recruitment destination for the majority of large and small corporations. Approximately 600 students apply for placements in each semester. Almost 100% of these students succeed in bagging a job. Around 200 reputed companies were hosted by the institution in 2017-2018 placement session. The university's placements session takes place in two separate phases. This is because only half of the graduating students are present on the campus at a particular time due to the Practice School Programme that takes place in the final year.

BITS Pilani Scholarships

BITS Pilani offers a plethora of fellowships, scholarships and other financial aid to its students. It offers its own merit-cum-need based scholarships and merit scholarships to the first-degree programme students, to provide them with financial assistance. 30% of the students admitted in first-degree programmes receive these scholarships every year and get 25-100% semester tuition fee waivers.
