CAT Cut offs: Difference in Admission Policy and Actual Application

CAT Cut off 2019 for IIMs and other top MBA Colleges carry two different aspects in their admission policy. For example, IIMs announce their admission policy with low CAT score cut off percentile requirement but the actual CAT score cut off percentile is much higher at the time of shortlisting. Therefore there will be a difference in MBA Colleges Cut Off 2019 as announced in their admission policy and CAT 2019 Cut Off Marks as actually applied by these B-schools at the time of shortlisting for final admission round.

CAT 2019 score cut offs in IIMs and other prominent MBA Colleges have been announced for MBA admission 2020. Although, IIM Cut off 2019 for CAT percentile score as announced by the 20 IIMs including IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta among others, reflect the minimum CAT 2019 cut offs required to be considered for shortlisting, the actual CAT score cut off in all the IIMs may go much higher.

Similar is the case at FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR Mumbai, IMI New Delhi, IRMA Anand, IMT Ghaziabad, XIM Bhubaneswar among other MBA colleges accepting CAT Score with cut off percentiles. The actual CAT Cut Off for top MBA Colleges for MBA admission 2020 may go higher than their threshold CAT cut off requirement.

Admission to the flagship MBA/PGDM 2020-22 programmes in number of top MBA colleges is based on CAT 2019 score cut offs. CAT 2019 test takers searching for MBA admission while looking for the suitable MBA colleges where they can apply, should refer the above relevant information on how good the B-school is alongwith the idea of CAT score requirement for shortlisting.

5 NMAT Exam Windows: Division of Dates

There are 5 NMAT windows in 2020 beginning from October 6 to December 19, 2020. They cover all the exam 2020 important dates. This system is determined on the basis of declaration of NMAT result for each window. The five windows are:

NMAT Window 1: October 6 to October 18, 2020

It is recommended to appear in latter part of this window as you are well aware by this time how has been the NMAT paper pattern

NMAT Window 2: October 19 to November 2, 2020

Your NMAT window 1 result is out now, you can decide whether to re-take the exam now. Better to take NMAT towards the end of the window

NMAT Window 3: November 3 to November 19, 2020

Most candidates targeting top IIMs and appearing in CAT 2020 may not prefer this window. If you appear/retake NMAT now, you may expect a very good percentile as fewer candidates are there and most of them are not top students

NMAT Window 4: November 18 to December 2, 2020

Two prominent exams CAT 2020 and IIFT 2021 lie in the 4th NMAT window. Very few candidates are expected to appear in this window 4 and would prefer window 5.

NMAT Window 5: December 3 to December 19, 2020

It will be better to appear in NMAT Window 5 towards the end of it as by this time the clarity on NMAT last leg paper pattern can be understood and after appearing in other exams, you are well prepared to take NMAT by then

NMAT Rescheduling

NMAT test takers have the facility to reschedule the exam in case of any exigency. In case you do not wish or cannot appear in NMAT on the original self-scheduled date, you may reschedule your NMAT exam date during the complete testing period of October 6 to December 19, 2020. The NMAT rescheduling process is available upto 72 hours prior to your original NMAT exam date. After this, the NMAT rescheduling for the original date may not be allowed.
